March 18th, 2010
Believe it or not, the health and beauty benefits of Vitamin D can be achieved with a little sun worship. Vitamin D, a steroid vitamin, encourages the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorous. An individual who is exposed to a normal amount of sunlight will get their daily allotment of vitamin D directly from the sun as the sun naturally promotes sufficient vitamin D synthesis in the skin.

Health and Beauty Tips – Dark Chocolate!
March 16th, 2010Health and beauty tips – Dark Chocolate? Is it true or false?
Health articles state that a growing number of studies indicate, while it’s not considered health food, dark chocolate can be a heart-healthy choice. Dark chocolate’smain ingredient iscocoa and the flavanols in cocoa beans have antioxidant effects that reduce cell damage that is implicated in heart disease. Flavonols also help lower blood pressure and improve vascular function.
An interesting piece of information is that, when compared to strawberries, dark chocolate has 8 times more antioxidants.
Chocolate lovers will also be happy to know that some of the fats in chocolate are healthy.Oleic acid is the same healthy monounsaturated fat found in olive oil, while stearic acid provides a saturated fat with a neutral effect on cholesterol.
A few things to keep in mind when consuming dark chocolate:
- Choose one that has at least 65% cocoa content.
- 85 grams (or 3 ounces) is all that’s needed daily to maximize the heart healthy benefits.
- To add a little more flavor, choose a dark chocolate that contains orange peel, nuts, or natural flavorings.

3 Top Acne Skin Care Tips
March 15th, 2010Is adult acne a problem for you? It can be frustrating because you think you’re out of the teenage years and your skin should be clearing up but, instead, adult acne pops up.
Here are 3 adult acne culprits that you probably wouldn’t have thought of:
Adult Acne Issue #1 – Talc.Check yourpowdermakeup to see if itcontains the mineral talc. If it does, switch to a different formula. Dermatologists say that the tiny crystals that make up talc can clog your pores.
Adult Acne Issue #2 – Lack of Natural Oils. Phytosphingosine is a type of fat that kills acne-causing bacteria, reduces inflammation, and keeps pores clear.
Adult Acne Issue #3 – Dairy. Recent health articles indicate that studies have shown the biggest milk drinkers are more likely to experience breakouts. This is because dairy products (even the organic ones) contain the same hormones that stimulate oil production in humans. Dermatologists also say that eating cheese, yogurt, and ice cream can also trigger acne. Try giving up all dairy for a few months and see if it makes a difference. In the meantime, take a calcium supplement.
If your interest is to clear up adult acne through diet, here’s an excellent bookwith great testimonials- The Clear Skin Diet.

7 Beauty Tips For Beautiful Skin!
March 13th, 2010Here are 6 proven beauty tips that you can use to helpin your quest for beautiful skin!
Beauty Tip #1 – Start with a regular cleansing routine: Cleanse your skin twice daily (only once if your skin is dry) using a mild, natural, inexpensive cleanser designed for your skin type. Add a coupledrops of essential oil of rose, spearmint, or orange to your cleanser to boost its cleaning effect and aromatic quality. Cleansing your skin is especially important before going to bed, because your body loses toxins through your skin as you sleep. If your pores are clogged with makeup and dirt, you invite pimples. If you perspire a lot, then rinse off and massage your body with a coarse cloth or loofah before retiring to remove salts and dead-skin buildup. Your skin needs to breathe while you sleep!
Beauty Tip #2 – Exfoliate once a week – try a homemade sugar scrub. Take a tablespoon or two of sugar and mix with a little olive oil to make a paste, lightly scrub in a circular motion, but be careful not to scrub the area under the eyes. The tissue here is very delicate, scrub the whole face and the area near the outer eye, which is where the “crows feet” appear. This process is similar to Dermabrasion but doesn’t irritate the skin as much.
Beauty Tip #3 – Newly revised total reference book for all women’s issues. Also includes 3 free bonus books worth $59.95 and 25% off coupons for naturalskin care products and cosmetics. Click here for more details.
Beauty Tip #4 – Eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens. Good nutrition is the basic building block of healthy skin.
Beauty Tip #5 – Drink plenty of water every day.
Beauty Tip #6 – Cut out skin-damaging habits like smoking, excessive drinking, tanning booths, and excessive sun exposure.
Beauty Tip #7 – Wear sunscreen, even on cloudy days and in winter. Use a good-quality, high-SPF, full-spectrum sunscreen. Sun damage is the single most important cause of premature aging. On the face, decolette and the back of the hands, use SPF 45 sunblock. Remember to put sunscreen on exposed areas like the back of your hands, neck and chest. They’re often the first place to show your age.

Beauty Secrets For Gorgeous Hair!
March 12th, 2010Beauty secrets from your hairdresser are always nice to get. I found a few and thought I would pass them on to you:
Fine Hair
BeautyTip #1 –
Volumizers with a lot of alcohol can cause frizz. Look for an alcohol-free spray or mousse that has moisturizing panthenol (also called provitamin B5)
Beauty Tip #2 – A little lightweight hair spray keeps a blowout from falling flat.
Beauty Tip #3 – Unless hair is damaged or tangles easily, a rinse-out conditioner is not recommended for helping to plump up fine strands. Conditioners will smooth the hair’s cuticle which is great for hair that is curly, wavy or damaged, but it will tend to flatten hair that is naturally straight or slick and fine.
Beauty Tip #4 – Hair experts argue about this point but many find that blasting fine hair with a cool or cold water final rinse will close the cuticle and help it to swell slightly. It also helps to add natural shine.
Beauty Tip #5 – One trick that will help to detangle fine hair without requiring heavy detanglers is to take one to two drops of pure rosemary essential oil and apply it to the palms of your hands.Massage the oil well into your palms and then use fingers to lightly run through damp hair in the areas that tangle.
Thick / Curly Hair
Beau
ty Tip #1 – To prevent frizz and flyaways, spritz a heat-protecting spray on thick hair from just below the roots to ends before blow-drying.
Beauty Tip #2 – Work a flexible-hold gel labeled “smoothing” or “straightening” through damp curly hair.
Beauty Tip #3 – Hair that is thick, curly, and easily knotted is difficult to comb from the top and straight down, you will encounter many knots along the way and will likely end up breaking your comb or getting it caught in the hair. A better way is to comb the hair in sections, start about 2 inches up from the bottom and comb down, once you get the knots out of that area move up another couple of inches, and comb down from there and so on until you have reached the top of the head, this will help you gradually get out all of the knots while keeping from pulling from the top and damaging the hair.
All Hair Types
Beauty Tip #1 – A dry shampoo in spray form won’t cause a mess.
Beauty Tip #2 – When blow-drying hair, separate tangles with fingers until hair is about 80%dry, then try brushing. You want to make sure your fingers glide through hair effortlessly before introducing a brush to wet or even damp hair.

Anti Aging Skin Care Tips
March 11th, 2010Anti aging skin care tips you can use. As with most beauty regimens, the secret to good anti-aging skin care is proper maintenance. Many women disregard the topic entirely until they start to see those little lines we all dread. The trick to good anti-aging skin care is to start now. Look at your skin every day, take note of the changes and look for trends that may need attention. Don’t wait until you see signs of wrinkles; start using an anti-aging skin care cream lotion now; before the lines start to form. By starting early you can reduce both the severity and quickness of Mother Nature’s natural smile lines.
The most important tip for anti-aging skin care is to keep your skin moist and hydrated with a proper cream. Otherwise, your skin will dry out and those lines will start to form prematurely. However, anti aging skin care does not always equal using a lot of oil or cream on your face. This only treats the surface of your skin, what you need is a product that will penetrate the layers of the skin and is made specifically to provide nourishment and protection for your skin.
