Simple Items in Your Medicine Cabinet are Great for the Most Beautiful Skin

Want to save hundreds at the make-up counter and the drug store? Using common, inexpensive items you probably already have in your medicine cabinet, you can whip up your own remedies for itching, getting rid of zits and soothing inflammation.

I asked skincare experts for their favorite recipes for homemade skincare products. Here are three of my favorites:

Petroleum Jelly and Antihistamine

Stop itching. Use an antihistamine tablet (ie. Allegra, Zyrtec, etc) and place a little plain petroleum jelly (ie. Vaseline) on irritated areas during tretinoin (ie. Retin-A) treatment.

Calamine Lotion

Calamine is 1 of my favorites : Must remember to shake the bottle use 1 capful (in sm. glass bowl) w/ aloe gel- mix apply to blemishes after cleansing can leave on over night. Reduces inflammation & discomfort w/o drying the skin. Can just use as mask 15mins and get results.

Toothpaste – The Ultimate Blemish Fighter

If you feel a nasty zit coming on, put toothpaste on it before you go to bed. When you wake up, the redness will be reduced and the blemish will have been extracted to reveal the head. Compress it with a hot towel for a few minutes (until you feel the rag isn’t hot enough anymore). Afterward, carefully scrape the white head away. Immediately put a spot treatment on it to clean area.
