Time for Tea

Tea is not only soothing and refreshing to drink, but it is also wonderful for the skin. Tea, both green and black, are loaded with anti-oxidants, and polyphenols. Polyphenols have anti-inflammatory properties and are also anti-allergenic. Without a doubt, tea is good for you both inside and out.

Pick a teabag or two of your favorite blend and tie the strings under the faucet so that the water will run through the bag. The water will be a deliciously scented blend and will add skin-loving antioxidants to the bath. As an added bonus, as you soak, put the tea bags over your eyes. The tea will help lessen dark circles and puffy eyes.

Chamomile tea is very soothing to parched, sun-damaged, or sensitive skins. Brew a pot of chamomile tea and allow to cool. Apply cool tea compresses to the skin to soothe.

Ice Pack

Another good idea is to put the tea in an ice tray. Freeze. When needed, take a cube, wrap in gauze, and apply to skin to help ease discomfort. The tea ice feels wonderful after waxing or rubbed on the face after a chemical peel.

Winter Moisturizing Mask

During the winter months when skin gets dry, I love to do this mask with my daughter. We leave it on for about 10 minutes.

Carrot Honey Nourishing Mask

1/3 cup carrot juice
the pulp of half an orange
1 tsp honey

Mix the ingredients together well. If it feels too watery you can add a teaspoon of flour. Brush it onto your face. Leave on for 5 minutes and rinse with warm water.
