Acne Help: Bring Balance to Your Skin

Pampered SkinStruggling with adult acne is not fair. We lived those years already as teenagers. What gives? Just as our hormones were raging and changing then, there comes ever more times in our lives that these changes occur. Find the acne help you need and learn how to restore balance to your skin that your hormones decided to shift… again.

Learn why using oil to balance the oil production in your skin is very effective. If you are looking for a natural way to fight off midlife acne, try using one of these helpful tips from our experts.

Use Natural Oils to Balance Natural Oils

1. Don’t be put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t eat. Your skin absorbs everything that you put on it so treat it nicely! Beware, many facial cleansers have a variety of harmful chemicals in them.

2. Don’t use oil free cleansers on your skin. We’re told as teenagers that oil free cleansers are the best way to dry up acne, but this actually makes the problem worse! When you dry out acne prone skin, your body will react by producing excess oil to attempt to restore balance.

3. Try using a natural oil cleanser daily to restore your skin’s natural balance. Try a combination of castor oil and sunflower oil and blend them yourself at home:

For acne prone skin use 75% castor oil to 25% sunflower oil.
For dry skin use 75% sunflower oil to 25% castor oil.
Apply to moist skin and cover with a hot wash cloth. Let sit for several minutes, allowing the oil to sink into your pores. Rinse with warm water.

4. Adult acne can indicate a food sensitivity so you may want to try an elimination diet to explore your food sensitivities. Corn, soy, gluten, dairy, sugar, and caffeine are common food sensitivities.

Saw Palmetto Extract

One of the best, natural ingredients for adult acne is Saw Palmetto, which can be very effective at reducing the appearance of acne as well as avoiding additional irritation. This ingredient is specifically designed to help balance stubborn, hormonal acne and is derived from a palm tree grown in the United States.

Even as adults we can face hormone imbalances. Saw Palmetto will inhibit the over production of the hormone testosterone, which is the usual cause for adult acne. When testosterone levels are brought down to their normal developmental production, the appearance of acne will be reduced. It’s a very effective, at home remedy for adult acne.
