Do You Know the Side Effects of Natural Progesterone Cream Part II

As discussed in Part I, natural progesterone can be very useful to balance excess estrogen and offset the symptoms of menopause and, particularly, early menopause symptoms.

Natural progesterone is very different from estrogen in that your body can use it as a base material to make other hormones from, such as adrenal hormones.  Remarkably, the body can even convert it to estrogen or testosterone if the body needs it.

The most significant side effect of natural progesterone cream

is high levels of progesterone may disrupt adrenal hormones.  This primarily manifests itself in the over or underproduction of DHEA, cortisol, and testosterone.  If adrenal hormones become disrupted, it usually takes 3-6 months to rebalance DHEA, cortisol, and testosterone.

If the adrenal hormones become disrupted, possible side effects include the development of cysts, increased body fat storage, salt and fluid retention, depression, headaches, impaired sugar control, and bone loss.

The use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has become very controversial as a result of a study that was completed in 2002.  All-natural progesterone creams have been widely hailed as the solution to the various symptoms of menopause.  Only recently have the side effects of natural progesterone cream been exposed and documented.  It is generally believed that progesterone cream is a useful tool; however, with the qualification that the manufacturer’s recommended dosage be followed explicitly and at the first sign of side effects, the use of adrenal hormone measurement be contemplated to verify the dosage.  While the side effects of natural progesterone cream need to be considered, the creams offer a significant benefit and particularly in light of the recent findings for hormone replacement therapy.

Dr. John Lee has written two books titled “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause” and “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause” are classics on the subject.  A complete list of books on the subject can be found at http://www.hormones-beauty-health.com/books.htm.  A product that many of our readers have had a significant amount of success with is PhytoProlief and can be found at www.ihd.myarbonne.com

While the side effects of natural progesterone cream should be considered, progesterone cream has been one of the most important supplements developed in the last few years and, particularly, with emphasis on the symptoms of menopause.
