Stay Beautiful - Hormones Beauty Health

All natural progesterones have recently been highlighted in the press as the solution of choice for menopausal afflictions.  Dr. John Lee, M.D., has written the landmark book on the subject titled "Natural Progesterone, The multiple Roles Of A Remarkable Hormone".  His thesis is that progesterone is a major hormone that is produced regularly in a woman's cycle in more abundance than estrogen, which is a significant factor.  He validates that progesterone is the principle hormone of women.  As the newspapers have recently documented, the existing system of medical education for day-to-day practice is not in sync with progesterone as a health aid for women.

The therapeutic modality in practice today is the use of prescribed synthetic hormones.  The great debate then is between the use of synthetic estrogen vs. natural progesterone during menopause; for the relief of symptomatic ailments and for overall well being.  The use of transdermal (rubbed into skin) progesterone creams can be bought over the counter vs. synthetic hormones, which can only be purchased with a prescription from a licensed physician.

PMS, estrogen, cancer, hot flashes, natural progesterone cream, progesterone, natural progesterone, acne, headaches, menopause - all words for contemporary issues in women's health.

Typical hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has behind it pharmaceutical lobbyists, the backing of the AMA, and the entire medical/pharmaceutical complex.  Several recent studies published (Detroit News) indicate millions of women could be supported with only the replacement of a natural hormone but are being denied due to the continuing pressures of the pharmaceutical companies and physicians who have been educated in the past.  Specifically, one study conducted by Dr. Susan Hendricks found long-term use of estrogen and progestin significantly heightened chances of cancer, stroke, and heart attack.  Estrogen and progestins have been used to replace hormones that are no longer produced during menopause, which commonly causes hot flashes, mood swings, and sleeping difficulty.  The study included 16,608 women, ages 50-79, at 40 hospitals nationwide.

FINDINGS:  Stroke risk rose 41%, heart attack risk rose 29%, cancer cases increased 26% above average.

Progesterone identifies one specific chemical.  Progesterone actually identifies a single specific molecule (sometimes confused with a class of hormones).  It's only a single hormone that has specific impacts on the woman's body.  It's manufactured in the body by various organs.  Progesterone is a "building block" for other hormones such as adrenal hormones, which is used in stress response and for blood pressure.

Progestins are synthetic and are altered actually at the molecular level and are available through drug companies by prescription.  As you can imagine, altering the molecular structure of progesterone to progestin can cause significant changes, particularly as it affects the human body.  It has been documented that they are not utilized as an aid to supplement hormones and are actually difficult for the body to break down and excrete.  Most progestins can also be taken from organic compounds such as found in plants, through a process called hydrolyzation.

Natural Progesterone can be derived from wild yams and soybeans and developed into progesterone, which is exactly the same in molecular structure and action to human progesterone, which is made for this method and graded by the U.S. Pharmacopoeia (USP) and is commonly transformed into a cream for transdermal absorption.  It's said to be an "identical likeness" to human progesterone.  Dr. Ron Eaker, M.D., has said there's evidence that natural progesterone cream is helpful for many menopausal issues.  He and others now have significant data that this is valid.  Recently, there were two papers presented at the World Congress of Fertility that actually documented improvement in hot flashes for women using progesterone cream.  These papers also acknowledge many testimonies of natural progesterone effectiveness for PMS and other menopausal symptoms.  More investigations are forthcoming almost daily.  Recently published in a medical journal, another study found significant improvement in hot flash symptoms using transdermal natural progesterone.  All natural progesterone also has been shown to inhibit abnormal growth of cells in key body organs which may actually transfer to additional diseases potentially impeding the growth of cancer developed cells, which has obvious major implications.

In summary, natural progesterone that is applied in the form of a cream has been documented to be a viable option for women who desire to effectively and safely treat basic hormone imbalance, which includes symptoms and conditions that occur throughout a woman's life span.  Researchers have also linked these improvements to acne improvement, particularly for teenage girls.  More information is forthcoming almost daily on this as well.
