'The Hollywood Corner' - Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria!

Eva Longoria says “I don’t overdo the hair and makeup.”  She knows the secret to looking young is to not pile on the makeup.  Instead, she adds color to her dark looks by adding a bit of gold shimmer cream to her cheeks and forehead.

On the issue of how to look 20 when you’re 30, Longoria says to “highlight your best features”.  For example, she shows off her legs.  “If it’s your eyes, play them up; if you have full lips, show them off with a gloss or dare to go red.”, however, don’t use a thick concealer as it will settle into fine lines, thereby highlighting your flaws.

What Type of Hair Do You Have?

Just as the type of skin you have requires different care, the type of hair you have also requires special care.  There are 4 types of hair – processed, curly, wavy, and straight.  We will dedicate one month to each hair type.  This month we will talk about Wavy Hair.

Characteristics – Wavy hair is often thick, coarse, and usually abundant.  IT suits both long and short styles.  One issue is, those who have wavy hair would rather it was either poker-straight or in ringlets.  The key to wavy hair is dealing with its two problems – static (which can create frizz) and lack of volume (which can cause flattening at the roots).

Caring For Wavy Hair – Thick, coarse hair can handle frequent washing but responds better to being left for 2-3 days between shampoos.  Because wavy hair is so thick, it is easily weighed down, so a volumizing shampoo should be used, which will provide lift and help maximize bounce.  You should follow shampooing with a light leave-in conditioner.  This provides a protective layer between the hair cuticle and the moisture that can create frizz.  Drying your hair should start with light towel drying (pressing & patting, NOT rubbing).

Here is a wave-enhancing technique:

If you’re in a hurry, simply apply a little mousse to the roots of your hair, blow-dry on a warm setting (hot will straighten the hair) with the dryer pointing upward.  When your is approximately 90% dry, tip your head upside down and finish blow-drying.

Tips For Wavy Hair

Moisturizing Hair Treatment – For a rich moisturizing masque that will add sheen to wavy hair, combine the following ingredients:

½ Ripe Banana
½ Avocado
1 Heaped Teaspoon Plain Yogurt
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

Mash together in a bowl and apply to your hair, focusing on the ends up to where your waves begin.  Wrap your hair in a towel and relax for 20 minutes before rinsing.

Next month we will talk about Straight Hair!

34 Menopause Symptoms

In our ongoing endeavor to cover each of the 34 Menopause Symptoms (one every month) – this month’s subject is Loss of Libido.

Loss of libido is said to be the most common menopause symptoms and, if not given the right attention, could decrease the quality of your sex life in an undesirable way.  So please take the time to read this information so you can understand more about the subject.

What Is Loss of Libido?  Libido is an “instinctive natural sexual energy”, i.e. the sexual desire you have towards your partner.  The best way to describe loss of libido is a loss of sexual interest.  Therapists say that loss of libido should be addressed only when it is perceived as a problem.  It is a problem when there is a discrepancy in desire between the person and their partner, or when people feel there’s something wrong with them because they don’t have any interest in sex.

What Causes Loss of Libido?  There are two reasons – psychological or physical, and sometimes both.

Psychological – can be stress, overwork, fatigue, or relationship conflicts.  If the first three are not controlled, it could cause loss of libido.  If you have relationship conflicts (such as communication, trust, or intimacy problems), it can create loss of libido.  Usually, however, in each case it is temporary until the situation is corrected.

Physical – is hormonal imbalance, i.e. low testosterone.  Women do produce a small amount of testosterone, which plays an important part in your sexual life.  Without a balanced level of testosterone, women are unable to properly respond to sexual stimuli.

What To Do About Loss of Libido?  The first step is to determine whether your problem is psychological or physical.

Psychological - Loss of libido produced by relationship conflicts should be first fixed within the couple by counseling or therapy. If the issue is stress, overwork, or fatigue, it should be treated by scheduling rest and joy time and integrating an exercise program in your life. Keep in mind that in most cases a combination of psychological and physical treatments is the best option to manage loss of libido.

Physical - Since loss of libido is most probably caused by low hormonal levels, a hormone balancing program is the best solution. Although there are several ways to manage loss of libido, the best way to balance your hormonal levels is through the use of a natural balancing cream.
