Winter may be coming, but that doesn’t mean that you have to lose your youthful summer glow. Here are 5 tips to help you keep your face feeling and looking summer-fresh all winter long:

  1. Choose a foundation for your winter skin.

From texture to color to translucence, your skin takes on a completely different tone in the winter months. To even out your complexion and set the stage for flawless, lasting make-up each day, you’ll need to choose a new foundation that complements your winter skin.

For most women, this means a lighter shade with a more opaque (less see-through) coverage. Many women also benefit from using a foundation that contains a moisturizer in the winter months.

  2. Break out the bronzer.

Even though you’re not spending as much time outside you don’t have to give up your healthy glow.  Choosing the right bronzer and applying it properly can give your face a warm, sun kissed radiance all winter long.

Many women make the mistake of choosing a bronzer that is too dark and end up looking like they’ve applied orange paint to their faces.

The trick to creating a natural summer glow is to use a bronzer that matches your skin tone and apply it sparingly to the areas that the sun would reach first like your forehead, the tops of your cheekbones and your collar bone.

  3. Switch to a longer-lasting moisturizer.

In the winter months, your skin craves moisture. From the cold, blowing wind outside to the hot, dry spaces inside the air is continually robbing the moisture from your skin.

Starting your day with a moisturizer designed to last for long periods of time is a good way to protect your skin from the elements, keep it from becoming dry and flaky and allow your skin’s natural brilliance to shine.

  4. Continue using sunscreen.
Even though you may not feel the harmful rays of the sun in the winter, they are still there. Thus the need to continue wearing a moisturizer or foundation that contains sunscreen even in the winter months.

It’s easier to maintain healthy skin than to repair and hide sun-damaged skin. So, keep sunscreen in your routine throughout the year.

  5. Raise a glass to your healthy skin… a glass of water that is!

The oldest and best piece of advice still holds true - drink plenty of water each day to help replenish the moisture stolen by the dry winter air.

When your body is getting enough water, your face is better able to stand up against the dry, damaging winter air.
